La trampa del ayer

Ayer.

Valentine's Day????

To my awesome audience:

I usually tend to speak and write in english when I'm mad, angry, annoyed or something of the sort; this explains why the following message is written in the common, popular, cheap tongue that is the english language. If you don't know how to read this, use Babblefish or whatever that thing is called. If you think me writing in english is pretencious or something of the sort, that's because you obviously don't know me, which means I don't know you... which takes us to a beautiful I DON'T CARE. Thank you.

Many years ago (somewhere around the Roman Empire period), some egocentric bastard decided his name was synonym of love (oh because he was so beautiful and gorgeous and good with women (and knowing roman tendencies, probably men too) and care about people's feelings, etc.) ... ergo he established Feb 14 as "Valentine's Day". That's enough background.

Nowadays, this day is exploited by the greeting card, toy, candy, flower and other industries as to "celebrate" the love, the friendship, good will, good faith, good screw...

If you ask me, that's downright selfish, egocentric and stupid; I totally refuse to act upon a "special" (for lack of a better word) day to show my girlfriend/friends/family/hookers my love and appreciation for them.

I will not fall down victim of the gift industry. I will not succumb over the now made necessary celebration to buy gifts, flowers and such just to show someone I care. I CARE. Seriously, just the fact that I'm taking the time to write this means that I, indeed, care.

It's not about choosing a special day, it's about showing everyday that we like/love/appreciate such people. What? You'd rather have some material thingie to remind you? You'd rather recieve a card or flowers this one "special" day as to prove yourself or prove someone else?

No, my friends, I shall not fall. And neither should you. As I said before, it's egocentric and stupid. No, my intention is not to ruin the joyful celebration; my intention is to open the eyes of those blinded by commercial marketing and advertising (as a person working in that industry precisely, I feel pretty confident about my message).

Sure, go ahead and enjoy Valentine's Day; someone else's day. Why not create your OWN day? Be as egocentric and self-centered as this Valentine from B.C. At least, that way you have something to boast about (plus if you play your cards right, it might stick and you'll get rich! Wait... I thought this message was to not fall into advertising... Ah well).

So that's it. Show your girlfriend/friends/family/hooker you care... but do that as many days as possible in the year, not when some dude decided you should. Thank you.
